Dr. Armando Anaya was raised in Pittsburgh and received his doctorate in archaeology from the University of Calgary. He studied with some of the foremost Mayanists of the 20th century, notably Peter Matthews, one of the three people most credited with breaking the Maya hieroglyphic code.
